Let’s kick off with some good news !!!
CCSA Western Cape was approached by Kam-Bati's Management. They invited CCSA Western Cape to join them during the weekend of 22nd to 24th January 2010 for a KykNet shoot of the program ‘Kamp dit Uit’. For those of you who don’t know, this program is now being aired on KykNet on Monday evenings for the second season, after a very successful first season. It is presented by Matthys Roets (a well known Afrikaans singer who recently became a paraplegic after being involved in a motor cycle accident). This has however not deterred him from continuing with the next season of the program and a special caravan has been designed and built for him to accommodate his wheel chair. His co-presenter is Alexa Strachan, who is also well known in the Afrikaans entertainment industry. The program is mainly about the outdoors and they visit different camp sites as campers and show the public what these resorts and surrounds offer.
A Special Provincial Rally was registered with a National status for the weekend for all those who attended the Kam-Bati rally. This meant those members that attended the Kam-Bati rally, received a National Badge as well as a special Provincial Attendance badge (once off) and the attendance records were sent through to the member's respective regions for stats purposes, similar to a Snoektown setup.
The main reason for pursuing this event was the fact that CCSA Western Cape was promised a fair amount of TV exposure. One of the goals set by us was to expose CCSA Western Cape more aggressively through the various media. This was a great opportunity and one that could be missed! The management of Kam-Bati spoke to the Producers of the program to actually give CCSA Western Cape an opportunity to show them the advantages of joining a club and why the public should join clubs. It forms an integral part of camping and the public must be made aware of this and what better way to do this. Apart from the branding that will be clearly visible for the camera shots and the mention made of CCSA in the end. Special Provincial banners were made up, similar to the ones that are currently in use within the regions. These banners will be used in future again for any Provincial event. As mentioned above special Provincial attendance badges were handed to all those members who attended. These CCSA Western Cape Provincial badges can and will be used again at other similar events, as the specific event will be recorded on the badge with a sticker.
